COCHAMO VALLEY

The treasures of Cochamo Valley have only recently been shared. It is 20,000ha of dense forest, granite peaks and rugged landscape, home to pumas and condors. Go now so you can still have the magic almost all to yourself.

Itinerary

Transfer from Puerto Montt or Puerto Varas, along the shores of the Lake Llanquihue to the National Park Vicente Perez Rosales dominated by the impressive, perfectly cone shaped Osorno Volcano. Visit the intensley emerald coloured Petrohué Falls, and overnight at the Petrohué Lodge located at the shore of the Lago Todos los Santos.

Head south, appreciating the scenery
change to a rockier and more spectacular landscape as we approach. Passing the village of Cochamó with its beautiful views of snow topped volcanoes and mountains we enter the Cochamó Valley and begin to understand why it is often
referred to as the “Yosemite of the South”.
Waterfalls, peaceful meadows, ancient trees (Alerce trees grow to over 2,500 years) and imposing granite walls await you. Picnic in the Valley then continue to the
isolated Valley of Puelo, characterised by remote landscapes, crystal clear, deep blue rivers and lakes reflecting the surrounding mountains. Take a small ferry across the gorgeous Tagua Tagua Lake to reach your lodge and enjoy its setting with beautiful views of the Tagua Lake.

Today is dedicated to exploring the valley. You could hike to the waterfalls, cross the “pasarela” bridge spanning the emerald coloured Puelo River, and spend time immersed in local life in the village of
Llanada Grande.

After breakfast you’ll take the ferry back to Puelo and drive back to Puerto Montt to continue your travels in Chile.
