Itinerary

Met upon arrival and transfer to hotel in nearby Negombo.

After breakfast, meet your driver
and head North East to the Cultural
Triangle, visiting Dambulla Cave Temple.
Considered to be the largest painted caves
in the world, there is more than 2,000 sqm
of paintings, sculptures and statues. (B)

A day exploring the sacred city of
Anuradhapura, the most celebrated and
oldest of Sri Lanka’s ancient ruined cities
dating back to the 5th Century BC. You’ll
see many sites including Isurumuniya and
Sri Maha Bodhi Tree under which Buddha
attained enlightenment. (B)

Day to discover Polonnaruwa, the
island’s Medieval Capital which rose to
fame after the decline of Anuradhapura.
Polonnaruwa is home to two magnificent
World Heritage Sites and numerous other
sites of archaeological interest. (B)

Drive to the Rock Fortress of
Sigiriya, and if you are feeling energetic,
you can climb it. A Royal Citadel for 20
years in the 5th Century AD, this unique
Rock Fortress or “castle in the sky” is often
considered to be the 8th Wonder of the
modern world. Continue to Kandy. (B)

This morning’s tour takes you to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of
Buddha – by far the most important place
of worship for Buddhists the world over.
Afternoon at leisure to explore or enjoy the tranquil garden and atmosphere in your
hotel. (B)

Morning train through tea
plantations to Haputalé, then continue
on to Kelbourne cottages, nestled in the
midst of a tea estate. Walk through tea
fields while watching colourfully clad teapluckers,
and sip the freshest tea in all of
Sri Lanka. (B)

Drive through the beautiful Ella Gap
to Yala NP. If you are lucky you can catch
a glimpse of the Big Four – Elephant,
Leopard, Bear and Buffalo, with over 120
bird species. Afternoon jeep safari followed
by an evening game drive. (B)

Morning game drive then afternoon
to relax and enjoy the facilities. (B)

Drive along the coast to Galle,
stopping enroute to watch the famous “Stilt
Fishermen” in action at sea. (B)

Morning walking tour through the historic fort. (B)

Day at leisure. (B)

Leisurely drive along the old coast road to Colombo with an afternoon tour.

Day to discover Colombo. Explore the city’s temples and kovils.
