Itinerary

Transfer from the airport by bus to your hotel
in Reykjavik. A detailed road itinerary with
directions and accomodation will be provided at
check-in for your adventure tomorrow.

Pick-up your rental car in the morning and
‘drive’ the Golden Circle Route: erupting
hot springs at Geysir, Gullfoss Waterfall and
Þingvellir National Park. The spectacular
two-tiered Gulfoss Waterfall is Iceland’s most
popular spot. You can join guided tours of the
site and also find short hiking trails to help you
explore Þingvellir National Park.

After breakfast in the guesthouse, continue
driving along the south coast, noting black lava
fields, waterfalls and glaciers. The southern
coast of Iceland is regularly mentioned as one
of the most beautiful coasts in the world, so be
sure to take your time to enjoy the journey.
Places of interest today include the Skaftafell
National Park, the glacial lagoon Jökulsárlón
and the Vatnajökull glacier.

A dramatic driving day in a remote and isolated
area. Stop along the way to enjoy views of tall
and often uniquely formed mountains, enroute to the East fjords. Quaint fishing villages and
small farms are ideal places to stop for breaks.

After breakfast at the guesthouse, head off
to explore the beautiful Lake Mývatn area.
Enjoy plentiful photo opportunities such as the
lava formations at Dimmuborgir, Mt. Hverfjall,
Krafla volcano and the geothermal area east
of Námaskarður. Visit Goðafoss/Godafoss –
Waterfall of the Gods, a great Icelandic waterfall.

Places of interest today are varied – you can opt
for Akureyri town, or the farmhouse museum in
Glaumbær, and the old turf church at Víðimýri.
Alternatively, you can visit Vatnsdalshólar,
Kolugljúfur canyon and the Skagafjörður district.
Akureyri is a small town with a vibrant main
street – relax for coffee, enjoy the wonderful art
gallery down by the wharf and be sure to visit
the Botanical gardens.

Visit the lovely Borgarfjörður district, climb the
old crater Grábrók or explore Borgarnes, the
site of one of the most popular Icelandic sagas,
Egla. Return your rental car in Reykjavik.

Our tour ends after breakfast in Reykjavik.
