Itinerary

Met upon arrival and transfer to your hotel.

Morning tour with a visit to the excellent Larco museum
to gain an overview of Peru’s history. Fly to colonial
Arequipa.

Morning walking tour visiting Arequipa’s most
traditional quarter and the famous 18th century white
stone buildings. Afternoon at leisure.

Early departure to the Colca valley. Condors,
volcanoes, and glaciers greet us with panoramic views
on the way. Visit the market at Chivay then arrive at
your lodge,complete with its own thermal springs.

Early morning drive to ‘Mirador Cruz del Condor’
to look down 1,200 m into the canyon. Watch the
condors rising and circling on the morning thermals,
silhouetted against the magnificent backdrop of the
mountain scenery. Drive higher to the Altiplano, rising
to 4,500m as you reach Puno.

Spend the day on the world’s highest navigable
lake. Visit the floating Islands of Uros and Taquile
where centuries old customs are preserved and the
traditional weaving is amongst the most beautiful
in South America. The deep earthy red of the soil,
combined with the altitude and the sunlight contrasts
magnificently with the deep blue of Lake Titicaca. Snow-capped Cordillera Real on the far side
completes a splendid picture.

A 10 hour bus trip along the Andes to Cusco takes
you through picturesque landscapes. Stops are
made so you can enjoy views of the snow-capped
Andes and important cultural sites.

This afternoon you are guided around the major
sites in and around Cusco, including Tambomachay,
Temple of the Sun, and the Cathedral.

In the morning a bus and train take you through the
Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu. Enjoy a private
guided tour of the citadel and realise how the
uniqueness of its location and the genius of its
construction make this one of the great wonders of
the world. Explore further on your own and maybe
stay long enough to enjoy the beautiful light of
the late afternoon when most tourists have left.
Overnight in nearby Aguas Calientes.

Rise early for an optional visit to Machu Picchu
and your chance to climb Huayna Picchu before
returning to Cusco mid-afternoon.

Day at leisure so you can tailor it as you wish.

Transfer to airport for onward flight.
