Itinerary

Welcome at Kolkata Airport and transfer
to your hotel. Free time to explore this historic
city.

Enjoy a tour of Kolkata today. Witness
the city’s colonial heritage in the old quarter,
visit Mother Teresa’s House and St. Paul’s
Cathedral, take a tram ride to the booksellers
quarter and stop for a break at the historic
College Street Coffee Shop. Later, explore the
incredible idol market at Kumartuli. (B)

Fly to Bagdogra and drive to the
beautiful hill station of Kalimpong, with an
afternoon tour of the town, including St.
Theresa’s Church, Deola Viewpoint and Lake
and the bustling Kalimpong bazaar – where
all manner of traditional thankas, carvings,
jewellery and masks are for sale. (B)

A leisurely drive to Gangtok, capital of
Sikkim. In the afternoon visit Enchey Monastery,
with its important collection of images and
religious objects. (B)

Morning city tour including the Cottage
Industries Institute and the Research Institute
of Tibetology, with its vast collection of books,
manuscripts and icons. In the afternoon visit
Rumtek Chakra Centre and Rumtak Monastery,
with great views of Kanchenjunga. (B)

Enjoy a morning excursion to Tsongmo
Lake, one of the most dramatic sights in the region. Situated on the Gangtok-Nathu La
highway, at an altitude of 3780m, it is sacred to
both Buddhists and Hindus. Return to Gangtok
with the rest of the day at leisure. (B)

Drive to Pemayangtse to visit one
of Sikkim’s oldest and most important
monasteries, filled with wall paintings and
scultpures. (B)

Drive to Darjeeling, often referred to as
the ‘Queen of the Hills’. After checking in to
your hotel the evening is at leisure to explore.

In the early morning visit Tiger Hill to see
the sunrise over Kanchenjunga and the Eastern
Himalaya. On clear days, even Mt Everest can
be seen towering in the distance. Later, visit
Ghoom Monastery before returning to your
hotel for breakfast. Mid-morning, board the
toy train (subject to availability) for a half-hour
ride, with great views over the gardens and
mountains. You’ll also visit the local Zoo, where
Tibetan wolves and Snow Leopards are bred;
and the Tibetan Refugee Centre, where many
handicrafts are on display. The final highlight,
of course, is a cup of Darjeeling tea at a nearby
tea estate! (B)

Drive to Badgogra for your return flight
to Kolkata. Your tour ends at the airport.
