Our Tips To Help You Prepare For Your Trip:
To ensure your safety, we have experts who have gathered together heaps of information to help you prepare for your much-anticipated expedition to Antarctica.
What We Suggest You Bring Along – Antarctica is one of the coldest places on the planet, and its average temperature during summers ranges from -2°C to 8°C. At night there is a quantum drop in temperature reaching around – 8°C.
Right From Head To Toe, We Advise You On What You Should Wear To Stay Safe, Warm And Comfortable.
We Recommend Your Ideal Checklist to Be –
- Water-resistant trousers, warm trousers, thermal underwear.
- Fibre-pile jackets and inside woollen sweaters, 2 pairs of thick socks.
- An inner sole for gumboots, headgear, 2 layered gloves, ear plugs, good pair of binoculars.
- Walking sticks/ ski poles, earplugs, a stretched clothesline and off-course sunglasses.
We really like and recommend One Ocean Expeditions. Their ships, Akademik Ioffe and Akademik Sergey Vavilov, offer a true expedition, rather than a cruise, which is how we like it. Best of all, they include all the outer gear you will need, so you don’t have to spend money buying your own, or waste space packing it.
Health Requirements – For Forward Travel, age is only a number, and if you are relatively fit, you’re ready for our Antarctic expeditions. However, we do lay down certain terms and conditions for you keeping in mind your well-being.
- If you have a fitness or health issue, be it physical or mindful, heart issues or even problems in your limbs, you need to inform us before-hand.
- If you have been recently sick, we require you to bring along approval from your doctor.
We always want you to make the most out of our travel, whether it’s a breathtaking Antarctica tour or our surreal Arctic expeditions. Your smile of appreciation is important to us, and we always try to achieve that from our adventurous tours and expeditions.

The Antarctic Peninsula is the ‘mainland’, so unless you walk upon it, you have not truly been to Antarctica. All our trips bring you here, where incredible icebergs, massive glaciers and rugged snow covered mountains await you, and curious penguins and fearless whales greet us.

As amazing as it is isolated, this wildlife sanctuary and its snow covered peaks, blue glacial ice and emerald green bays, is breathtakingly beautiful. Just 170km long with peaks up to 2,934m, and known for its eternal connection to Sir Ernest Shackleton, its history is as interesting as its wildlife is abundant.

We know Patagonia is not in Antarctica, but it is on the way, and a perfect partner for Antarctica. The north is filled with forests, lakes, volcanoes and villages. The south gives you rugged wilderness including Torres del Paine, a true Wonder of the World, and the breath-taking performance that is Perito Moreno glacier.

Wild, remote and filled with wildlife, The Falklands is staggering. You can share white sand beaches with king penguins, then climb higher to find large albatross colonies, and more penguins.
Enter one of Stanley’s pubs and be instantly transported to rural Britain, with décor,
atmosphere, warm beer, and accents of a place far away.
If your interests include wildlife, wilderness, walking, or war history, the Falklands is the place for you.

Go straight to the action and fly over the Drake to Antarctica, or into Stanley in the Falkland’s. The time saved allows more time to reach more places and linger longer at some favourites. You’ll see more wildlife species by visiting both the Antarctic Peninsula and the sub-Antarctic islands. Or if you are short of time, you can fly down just for a day, or cruise from just 4 nights.
