Bay of Fires Lodge Walk
4 days/3 nights

Discover the breathtaking beaches of The Bay of Fires along Tasmania’s east coast. Your small group, led by expert guides, will traverse this wonderfully remote landscape. The Bay of Fires offers is an awe-inspiring escape, teeming with unique flora and fauna. Over four days, you’ll be immersed in one of Tasmania’s most pristine environments. Walk the soft sandy beaches, explore secluded coves, kayak Ansons River and enjoy the relaxed luxury of our camp and Lodge.

Day 1: Launceston to Mt William National Park

Travel across the rich pastoral landscapes of north-eastern Tasmania and then set off on our beach stroll with Flinders and Cape Barren visible to the north.

We’ll nestle into a protected beach for lunch, where your guides will begin unravelling the Bay of Fires history and inhabitants.  After about four hours walking, we’ll arrive at our Beach Camp, tucked away in secluded dunes. You can relax on the deck with a local wine, take a dip or explore the dunes while your guides prepare delicious Tasmanian fare.

Approx 4hr walking

Day 2: Exploring the Bay of Fires Coastline

After a relaxed breakfast, we’ll explore the coastline’s bold colours and solitude. Along the ridgelines of sand dunes, views extend across heathlands and out to the ocean. We’ll visit marsupial lawns, often encountering quiet native animals.

We’ll have lunch at a sheltered beach near Eddystone Point Lighthouse, and explore the lighthouse before we follow the beaches to the much-celebrated Bay of Fires Lodge, our base for the next 2 nights.

Soak in the blissful serenity of the lodge, the architecture, and maybe indulge in a spa treatment. Dinner is a Tasmanian long-table affair, featuring produce from the island matched with fine local beer and wine.

Approx 7 hours walking

Day 3: Kayaking and enjoying the area

Rise early as bird song welcomes the dawn, and the lure of freshly brewed coffee leads to you to breakfast on the deck. Eagle eyes may spot whale or dolphins surfing the waves.

The choice is yours today. You could kayak down the winding waterway of Ansons River,  go fishing, snorkel in the marine nursery, explore shell coves or enjoy the lodge surrounds.

Take a walk after dinner to look for wildlife – keep an eye out for wombats, wallabies, Forester kangaroos, possums or even a Tasmanian devil. Remember to look up! The night sky from this pristine coastline is an awesome spectacle.

Approximately 6 hours kayaking/walking

Day 4: Return to Launceston rejuvenated

There’s plenty of time for a morning swim or final spa treatment before we depart the lodge. We venture through eucalypt forests and coastal heathland and enjoy a forest lunch to the sound of native birds, including the endemic green rosella.

When we arrive back to Entally Lodge we’ll raise a glass to the four wonderful days spent together.

Approximately 1 hour walking
