Visit Chile and Explore God’s Own Country
A rich and diverse country of inspirational landscapes, Chile is a traveller’s paradise, and we love it!
A local legend says that when God finished creating the wonders of the world there were many pieces left over; sprawling glaciers and icy fjords, fertile valleys and dry deserts, soaring mountains and snow capped volcanoes, beautiful forests and sandy beaches.
To maximise their brilliance he put them together in a long, thin country, and called it Chile.
Whether the legend is fact or fiction, Chile is an extraordinary feast for travellers. In keeping with the legend we have put our favourite pieces together too, hoping to inspire you to put Chile on your travel menu and find out why we think Chile is South America’s hottest country.
Bounded by the Pacific Ocean and the Andes mountains, the world’s longest country stretches from the stark Atacama in the north to pristine Patagonia in the south, and further to Antarctica.
The north has the driest desert in the world, filled with spectacular light and clear skies.
The centre gives you vibrant, historic cities, and fabulous wineries to savour the local flavours.
South is Patagonia, greeting you with picture perfect volcanoes, verdant green lakes and lush rainforests, culminating in the vastness of the Patagonian steppe and the spectacular peaks of Torres del Paine NP.
From top to bottom Chile will inspire and reward you. We want to share our love of Chile with you and hope you will fall in love witrh her just as we have done.
The Atacama is the world’s driest desert, and is a feast of nature with salt flats, altiplanic lakes, hot springs and geysers, as well as fertile ravines and oases. San Pedro is the central village whose narrow dirt streets are filled with the mysticism of ancestral cultures. Stargazing here is fantastic, high altitude and zero pollution, and clear skies, the nights are as impressive as the days.
Chile's Lake District is a beautiful region of snow-capped volcanic mountains and forests, sprinkled with picturesque lakeside towns with a distinctly European elegance. The area attracts tourists to marvel at the scenery, climb the volcanoes and hike in the National Parks. It's a great region to enjoy the outdoors and the warmth of cosy lodges in the evening. Enjoy superb food, learn about indigenous cultures or explore the picturesque villages.
A land of myths and legends, unique folklore and culinary traditions. Visiting Chiloé is like entering a magical world blessed in nature and culture. Discover its quaint palafitos, colourful houses built on stilts above the water, explore wooden churches, and enjoy the wit and warmth of the Chilote people
Easter Island (Rapa Nui) is a unique, special place, culturally compelling and scenically magical. The most isolated, inhabited island on the planet, it looks like it's fallen off another planet. Did you know the famous moai statues actually have bodies as well, buried in the ground beneath the heads? As well as the statues, there are extinct volcanoes to climb, islets to dive or snorkel, and bikes or horses to ride. It's all about low key eco-travel, mainly run by local families, ensuring an authentic experience.
Vibrant and colourful, with charming neighbourhoods, rooftop bars, great markets and the ever present Andes as a backdrop. Set out to explore the city streets and you’ll discover beautiful and original art galleries, design shops and handicraft markets, as well as a great selection of restaurants, bars and cafes.
Get ready to feel completely insignificant in comparison to nature. Standing among the jaw-dropping landscapes in Torres del Paine will do that. Being surrounded by turquoise lakes, majestic granite horns and towers, is humbling indeed. Spend one day or several days to do it justice.
