Patagonia is filled with hiking trails. One of the least known is Cerro Castillo National Reserve, around 80km south of Balmaceda airport along the Carretera Austral. The park is named for the jagged peaks of Cerro Castillo and the intense blue waters of the lagoon at the base of the peak.
It has beceome known as the quieter alternative to Patagonia’s most famous national park, Torres del Paine.
The area is a favourite of Lonley Planet, and was recently named in the top ten places to explore in the world. We think it is a beautiful hidden gem, and will become one of your favourite places.
