Itinerary

Today depart from either Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide or Perth for Casablanca, Morocco! Fly with Etihad Airways, Emirates, British Airways, Lufthansa, Swiss Airways, Austrian Airlines, Air France, KLM, Virgin Australia, Virgin Atlantic, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines and codeshare partners (subject to availability).

Upon arrival you will be welcomed by your tour leader at Casablanca airport and transferred to your hotel in Rabat for the night (approx. 1 hour journey).

Overnight: Riad Dar Zhouour or similar, Rabat, Morocco
Meals included: Dinner

This morning enjoy a guided visit of the medina of Rabat, taking in sights such as the Royal Palace (Mechouar), the Kasbah des Oudayas, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and Hassan Tower. Drive to the imperial city of Meknes, the Ismaili capital, famous for its long walls (40 km). Visit Bab Mansour, the Royal Stables, and the Jewish quarter.
After lunch at a traditional restaurant (not included), continue to the holy city of Moulay Idriss and then to the ruins of the Roman city of Volubilis. Visit the archaeological site and then continue onwards to Fez.

Today is dedicated to exploring Fez, the spiritual capital of Morocco. A visit to the medieval medina includes the Madersa Bou Inania and Attarine, the Nejjarine fountain, and Karaouine University. Enjoy lunch at a traditional restaurant in the medina (not included). In the afternoon enjoy a visit to Fez El Jadid.

This morning you will head towards the Middle Atlas Mountains. Both the climate and landscape will change as you drive into southern Morocco, which is brimming with stunning mountain lakes and Berber villages. Beyond Erfoud, the dunes of Erg Chebbi start to appear. Enjoy a camel ride and watch the sunset over the dunes. Spend tonight in a riad at the foot of the dunes.

Today you will enjoy a camel trek discovering the breathtaking views from dune to dune. Stop for a picnic under the shade of a tamarisk tree. Here find your ‘ship of the desert’ waiting for you. You will clamber onto the back of your camel and gently plod into the sand dunes like a true desert nomad. The sensation of being surrounded by endless desert is incredibly calming and the silence is overwhelming.
Arrive at your accommodation, nestled in between the sand dunes. Take a walk along the rim of the sand dunes as the sun begins to set. Later that evening savour a traditional meal followed by music and dancing by the campfire.

Today you will leave Merzouga and journey onwards to Tinghir, walking through the beautiful palm grove and fields, and then visiting the famous Todgha Gorge. Walk in the real life oasis of Tinghir (approx. 1 hour).
In the afternoon, continue to the famous Dades Valley, known for its beautiful kasbahs and fortified villages. This evening you will stay in a kasbah.

Overnight: Kasbah Xaluca or similar, Boumalne Dades
Meals included: Breakfast; Dinner

Today discover the beautiful Valley of Roses, famous for its beautiful rose gardens and adobe villages. Explore the village of Boutaghrar, known as the little ‘Moroccan Colorado’, at the foot of the Middle Atlas. Stroll through the village and meet the Berbers.
Lunch today is with a Berber family in a local family home, a taste of local daily life. In the afternoon, continue to Ouarzazate, the Berber “Hollywood” and the Moroccan desert gate.

Enjoy a morning visit to the famous kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most fascinating kasbahs of Morocco. Aït Ben Haddou has been the location for several big budget films including Alexander, Lawrence of Arabia, and Gladiator.
Through the mountains of the Anti-Atlas, head to Taznakht, a small town known for weaving Berber carpet. Have lunch (not included) in Taznakht before continuing to Taliouine, the capital of Saffron. Arrive in the afternoon at Taroudant.

Visit Taroudant located at the intersection of the Souss valley and the mountains of the High Atlas. Often referred to as ‘Little Marrakech’, the city was the first capital of the Saadian’s dynasty during the sixteenth century, and a refuge for rebel princes. Nowadays it is a place for desert travellers to rest in the shade of its stunning ochre walls.
Continue to Tafraoute, the city of almond trees, surrounded by impressive pink granite valleys that are beautifully illuminated by the sun.

Overnight: Auberge Kasbah Chez Amaliya or similar, Tafraout
Meals included: Breakfast; Dinner

Today leave the city of Tafraoute and travel through the beautiful volcanic landscape of the Anti-Atlas. Continue your journey to Agadir, travelling the road along the Atlantic admiring the stunning seascapes.
Arrival in Essaouira, with free time to explore the city at your leisure before dinner.

Today, be given the opportunity to see the medina of Essaouira, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001. The medina was once referred to as Mogador, meaning ‘small fortress’. Wind down with a magnificent sunset on the beach and meet local artisans in the local souk.

This morning is free to enjoy the unique atmosphere offered by Essaouira. In the afternoon, head to Marrakech where you will check into your riad, and enjoy free time to visit the souks and the Jemaa El Fna square.

Meals included: Breakfast; Dinner

After breakfast this morning enjoy a guided visit of the main monuments of the city, including Badii Palace, the Koutoubia Minaret, the Saadian tombs and the Ben Youssef Madrasa. In the afternoon you will have free time to stroll through the souks.

Today depart for Casablanca, the economic and financial capital, and second largest port city in Morocco, which is endowed with a special charm. Visit of the Hassan II Mosque, an important religious and cultural site built on the sea and dominated by its 210m high minaret.

Today you will be transferred to Casablanca airport for you return flight. Please note: if your flight departs early, breakfast will be arranged for pick up from the hotel reception the night before.
