Itinerary

Your journey through Western Canada begins with a early-afternoon departure from downtown Vancouver. Travel through the lush Fraser Delta Region and the towering peaks of the Coastal Mountains, before entering the Fraser River Canyon.
Follow the Fraser River until the town of Hope for a short rest and to view the spectacular coastal mountains around us. From Hope continue upwards to the sub alpine region via the Coquihalla Highway. Along this route watch the landscape change dramatically as you gain altitude. Travel from lush coastal forest, to sub alpine, to Canadian desert en-route to your destination at the historic, train-era, Plaza Hotel, in downtown Kamloops.

Continue your journey from Kamloops. Witness the landscape change from wide open skies to towering rugged peaks as you ascend into the Rocky Mountains.
Stop for lunch in the alpine town of Revelstoke before continuing through the untouched wilderness of Roger’s Pass—keep an eye out for native wildlife such as caribou, mountain goats and grizzly bears.
After crossing the Columbia River, arrive in Yoho National Park with its towering waterfalls, ice-clad peaks and a natural bridge that spans the Kicking Horse River. Surmount the Continental Divide, and enter Banff National Park where you arrive at Lake Louise, one of the most stunning emerald green lakes in the Canadian Rockies for your overnight stay.
(breakfast & lunch is included today)

Travel by coach today via one of the most scenic highways in North America – the Icefields Parkway. Visit the Columbia Icefield that covers an area of nearly 125 sq mi (325 sq km) and reaches a depth of 1050 ft (320 m).
Time allows for an Ice Explorer ride (included) on the Athabasca Glacier, then a stop at the awardwinning Glacier Skywalk (included) to experience a glass-floored observation platform 918 ft (280 m) over spectacular glacier-formed valleys and rushing waterfalls.
After, continue along the Icefield Parkway where stops will be made at Bow & Peyto Lakes and the Crowfoot Glacier. This highway is renowned for sightings of bears, elk, moose & mountain sheep, so keep your camera handy. Please note: mountain lakes in this region will be frozen through to mid-June. Return back down the Icefields Parkway for an overnight stay in Banff. (picnic lunch included today)

This morning tour the town of Banff and its environs. Among the highlights are visits to the Hoodoos (shaped by centuries of wind) & Bow Valley Viewpoint, Surprise Corner, Bow Falls, Lake Minnewanka and Bankhead: An abandoned mining town and the relic of Banff’s industrial past. At the end of the tour you will be taken to the Banff Gondola for a breathtaking ascent to the pinnacle of Sulphur Mountain for an aweinspiring 360 degree panorama of sheer mountain majesty.
Return to downtown Banff at your leisure. (transfer not included) Mid-afternoon depart for Calgary on a scheduled coach transfer; following the Trans Canada Highway, leave the Rocky Mountains to the Great Central Plains that roll to the east for 2000 kilometres and extend as far south as Mexico.
This is ‘cattle ranching country’ and the breadbasket of Canada. Arrive into Calgary late afternoon with drop-off at Calgary Airport or downtown hotels.

Depart downtown Calgary and travel west through the rolling foothills with the Canadian Rocky Mountains in the horizon.
Upon arrival into Banff you will visit such points as Bow Falls, Surprise Corner, and the Hoodoo rock formations, before a stop at the Banff Gondola. At the top of Sulphur Mountain spectacular views await from the 360 degree observation deck. After the tour your Driver/Guide will take you to your hotel.

Tonight’s destination at the historic, train-era, Plaza Hotel, in downtown Kamloops. (lunch is included today)

The landscape changes dramatically as we climb from the Canadian desert area of Kamloops into the sub alpine region of Coquihalla Pass and the imposing Cascade Mountains.
After the pass descend quickly into the Fraser River Valley. Enroute stop in Hope for a short rest and views of the spectacular coastal mountains around us.
The last leg of the journey takes you through the lush farming region of the Fraser Valley to arrive in the Pacific port city of Vancouver early afternoon. (breakfast is included today)
