Itinerary

Fly from Sydney via Santiago to Lima. Uponarrival, you will be picked up from the airportand privately escorted to your hotel in thevibrant neighbourhood of Barranco.

Your sightseeing tour explores the modern andhistoric centre, declared a World Heritage Siteby UNESCO in 1988. Explore the city’s architectural heritage and then visit the Larco Herrera Museum, showcasing 3,000 years of the Peruvianhistory.

This afternoon take a guided walk around Barranco, well-known for its selection of fantastic local eateries, and is filled with traditional handmade crafts from all over Peru. The beauty of this walk is as much in the absorbing of cultural heritage, style and artistic flair, as it is the individually significant sites themselves.

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Cuscowhere you will be picked up and driven to TheSacred Valley your hotel in the Sacred Valleyto visit the vibrant Pisaq market, one of SouthAmerica’s most famous souvenir markets. Dropoff at your hotel.

Visit the salt mines of Maras, where the intense white shine is an impressive sight for any visitor.Salt was extracted from these mines during Inca times and the same method has still been used ever since.

Then visit the circular terraces of Moray, like a Greek amphitheater hidden among the hills. Moray was used as an open-air agricultural lab for adapting crops to different environmental conditions.

The morning Vistadome train ride takes you through the Sacred Valley of the Incas up to Machu Picchu. Meet your guide and take a coach to the entrance of the citadel. For centuries Machu Picchu remained undiscovered by the Spaniards and has only been found in 1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham.

During a guided tour you will experience the uniqueness of the location and the genius that went into its construction, making this Inca site one of the seven new wonders of the world.

Return by train to Poroy where you will be privately escorted to your hotel in Cusco.

Your comprehensive city tour includes the beautiful Koricancha, Sun Temple, the Cathedral as well as the Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, a most remarkable Inca building.

This is followed by a visit to Puca Pucara, a strategically located ‘redfortress’ that dominates the entire area before visiting Tambomachay, with its two distinctive aqueducts that to this day continue to provide clean water to the area.

Day at leisure to explore as you wish.

Be driven from your hotel in Cusco and escorted to the airport for flights back to Sydney.
