Itinerary

Our journey starts at the Safdarjung Station in Delhi with a warm traditional welcome. Once boarded, allow your Khidmatgars (attendants) to give you a brief orientation tour with a welcome drink before we set forth on our tour.

After a delicious cabin breakfast, step out to enjoy our first halt in Rajasthan’s capital city.

Though called the Pink City because of its sandstone structures, Jaipur is vivid with colors typical to Rajasthan’s lively culture. Enjoy a guided tour to the Hawa Mahal, the City Palace, Albert Hall, the Jantar Mantar Observatory and experience an elephant ride to the Amber Fort.

Conclude this tour with some interesting shopping before returning to train.

As the train chugs into Sawai Madhopur in the wee hours, get ready to mingle with nature as you proceed on a game drive into the Ranthambore National Park to view tigers, hyenas, ratels, jackals and thousands of rare species of birds.

Our next stop is at Chittorgarh where you can experience history as it happened in a moving Sound and Light Show at the Chittorgarh Fort before you return to your palace on wheels.

Today we explore the charming town of Udaipur – with its palace islands, sparkling lakes, gardens and fountains; easily a place designed by monarchs, perfectly preserved.

Visit the Garden of Fountains and Durbar Museum, lunch at the Fateh Palace Hotel and float over the Lake Pichola past the Lake Palace Hotel on a boat to view the largest palace complex in Rajasthan.

Today, we dive into the very essence of Rajasthan at Jaisalmer – a Fort right at the heart of the vast Thar Desert. Explore the township with its well-preserved Havelis, enjoy lunch at a Palace Hotel, explore the sand dunes of Sam on a thrilling camel ride and experience the desert ethos of Rajasthan in a moving culture show at the Palace Hotel with dinner.

Today, we take in the “Suncity” of Jodhpur with its delightful blue houses, the impressive Mehrangarh Fort and the Jaswant Thada. Enjoy a traditional lunch at the City Hotel after you explore Jodhpur’s palaces and other architectural wonders.

Spend another morning with nature at the Keoladeo Ghana National Park, Bharatpur. This bird park is home to Egrets, Siberian Cranes, Water fowl and several hundred species of birds.

Proceed to Agra where we visit the majestic Red Fort followed by lunch at the Palace Hotel.

Move on to the highlight of your India visit – the glorious Taj Mahal, a symbol of love that’ll leave you speechless with its beauty. Follow with some shopping, specialties here being leather goods and marble work.

After breakfast in your cabin, collect your baggage and memories, bid adieu to travel companions and train attendants and de-board at the Safdarjung Railway Station to mark the end of your memorable royal journey in the Palace on Wheels.
