Itinerary

Welcome at Delhi airport and transfer to hotel. Rest of day at leisure.

Explore Old Delhi. See the drive past Red Fort, roam Chandni Chowk market in a cycle rickshaw and visit Rajghat where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated.

Fly to Amritsar; visit the Golden Temple, a revered place of worship, then head to the border to be drawn in by the closing ceremony and lowering of flags on the India-Pakistan border, accompanied by zealous cries on both sides.

Leave for Dharamsala, stopping to visit the Masroor Rock-cut temple complex with its Indo-Aryan rock temples in ruins filled with vivid images of Hindu Gods. Check-in at hotel in McLeod Ganj and rest of day at leisure.

Explore McLeod Ganj’s Tibetan heritage with visits to Dip-Tscechokling Gompa, the Tibetan library, St.John’s Church then return to hotel.

Drive tp Palampur, stopping on the way at Norbulingka Institute – a university of Tibetan Buddhist heritage, and the massive Kangra Fort. Check in at Taragarh Palace in idyllic Palampur.

Today, we leave for Shimla, also called the Queen of the Hills. Check in at hotel in Shimla and rest of day at leisure.

Ride the Kalka-Shimla UNESCO World Heritage Toy train. Visit the State Museum, Jakhu Temple and Christ Church next, before entering Shimla’s beloved landmark – The Mall road for shopping.

Depart early to the ancient city of Haridwar – where thousands of pilgrims gather to see the origin of the rivers Ganga and Yamuna.

Stroll the holy Ghats to see where Hindus pay homage to ancestors. Explore the street-markets, visit Ashrams to understand Indian culture and gather at sunset at the main Ghat to watch the Ganges Arti, a spellbinding ritual with pulsating music that will draw you in.

Depart early to Rajaji National Park to see a wide range of flora and fauna. Later, proceed to culturally enriched Rishikesh. Visit key Ashrams here and watch the evening Arti before returning to Haridwar.

Transfer to airport for flight to, and final night in Delhi.

Afternoon guided tour of Delhi. Later, transfer to airport for onward flight.
